Ok so let me first start off as to why I took a star away. The stand itself is metal but it is a painted metal. The paint chipped away at the base of the stand the day I got it. Was kind of upsetting to me that a new product would do this. Plus I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a black metal and it was painted. Now to the real product and how it is holding up. This thing is a beast. I'm supporting 3 24" monitors and it allows me to move them every which way I want. The stand with out anything on it is about 50 lbs, with the monitors on it it feels over 80ish lbs. So you might need some help moving this thing. This is the most sturdy piece of equipment I have other than my Steelcase desk. I am fully confident in having my $1100 investment protected with this stand. If I want it to move a monitor It is simple, pull a pin up and slide it. If I want to rotate I just rotate the monitor. It tilts with ease and stays in place very well. I would recommend this stand to anyone doing an eyefinity set up or any kind of three monitor setup. I have read many reviews that say Ergotech is the best of the best when it comes to stands and monitor support. In my experience that is 100% accurate. Great monitor stand and if you are thinking about doing this, you shouldn't look at any other stands. Well worth the money. Other comparable stands are $50-150 more than this is with out the ability to rotate. Get this one !!!

I purchased this for use with three ViewSonic 24" LCD's, primarily for gaming. The product looks good and sturdy, and setup seems simple, but I was unable to complete the first step of the instructions, which was to thread the pole that supports the monitor arm into the base. Either the female thread in the pole or the male thread on the stud in the base is off, because try as I might, the thing will not catch and screw down. Very dissapointing. I'm going to give their customer service a shot before returning to Amazon and will report back what I find and amend the review if they respond and it gets working with minimal further hassle.

***11/7/2011 Update***
Ergotech got back to me the next day by both phone and email, and they are now sending replacement parts out at no charge. Will update again after receipt and install.

***11/11/2011 Update***
The replacement parts (new base and bar) came well packed via UPS. Everything went fine the first time using the new parts. I was surprised at how easy the setup was. The only thing that confused me for a bit was that I needed to use an allen wrench to loosen the adjustment bolts on the side of the outer mount brackets before they would pivot up and down. The instructions said the bolt was on the right side (which I guess it was if you turned it around, but the picture showed it the other way) and it was very tight and not easily loosened at first so I wasn't sure it was the right one. It was a bit finicky to get everything adjusted perfectly, but I think it was a good tradeoff vs. the cost of more expensive and complex fittings for adjustments made rarely.

All in all, it probably took about 30 minutes to set up from the time I started unscrewing the bases from the LCD's to when I had them all set up and adjusted the way I wanted. I use this setup almost entirely for gaming, and I was really surprised at how much more immersive this stand made the 'surround monitor' experience. Having the screens at a perfect eye-level height and being able to easily slide them as a unit towards or away from the seating position made a real difference. As others have said, it also helped to free up desk space and give a much cleaner look to the whole setup.

I completed the setup with 3 Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24" LCD's and thought the angle was pretty much ideal for my use. Would buy again, and might - to get another for work.

I purchased this stand a week ago and received it today (good speed for free shipping to Alaska).

Setup was easy, materials are solid/durable.

i was ecstatic to find a stand of this quality for this cheap (purchase price at the time was $209) its a great match for my 2x21.5inch viewsonic monitors + 1 Samsung 21.5inch

I will update this short review if anything unfortunate happens or i find an error in the stand.
